Sculpture in Motion
Creating Kinetic Sculpture with found objects of metal, wood and stone

It’s important to know what kind of objects are right for your project, so we will be doing some hardware store and market browsing on the first morning. After lunch, we will get down to business with design, technique, and creativity.

The following days, we will have workshop from after breakfast until lunch at 2 pm. It will be up to you if you want to stay in the workshop the afternoon, or go drink Tequila and hang out on the beach. I’ll be there, but afternoons are not obligatory. The workshop is open for you in the evening as well, so you can soak up the sun in the afternoon and suffer no stress about having time to work on your projects.

You will be using mostly recycled and found objects, rocks, wood, shells, glass, feathers, wire, silk, and you can incorporate small objects that you take a liking to. You will need some metal, a bit of wire, a bunch of inventiveness, and a lot of trial and error. Movement must be created by carefully balancing weights, so that any small movement or passing breeze will bring your sculpture to life.

The Hacienda Mosaico ambiance will inspire you, relax you, enhance your creativity, and bring forth the best of your artistic talent. I’ll be there to coach you through any technical difficulties and you will go back home with much more than a tan. You will have some very beautiful sculptures and the knowledge of a new art form. I must warn you that creating kinetic sculpture is addictive and you may spend the rest of your life picking up bits and pieces of weird stuff to put into your next creations.

Note:
If you have them, please bring: Needle nose pliers, chain nose pliers, wire snips, optional, any other metalworking tools, scissors, some cheap brushes (1/2 inch) wire (a couple of different gauges) I will provide you with much of the material you might need and I have a few tools to share.
