Please join mixed media artist Leighanna Light for the experience of a lifetime in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Immerse yourself in 4 days of art making (& one day of serious junking!) at the lovely Hacienda Mosaico, March 3-8 2009. |
In this week long workshop, we will be creating 3 different decks, the first using metal as a substrate, the second using cloth & the last working with a heavy, rich paper. We will be exploring a variety of ways to use & distress metal, cloth, paper, & found objects, and you will learn a boatload of brand new ideas & techniques!

We will spend 2 of the days working with metal & you will receive in depth
instruction on how to work with metal including... |
- Applying texture to metal.
- Metal transfers.
- A variety of ways to forge, distress & mark metal.
- How to add ink & paint as a design element.
- How to use patinas to change the look of the metal.
- Cold connections, alternative ways to attach objects & paper to your work without using glue.
- Brand new metal altering techniques.
- How to correctly use tools & products, including the dremel & dapping block.
- How to use patinas to change the look of the metal.
- Working with object placement, composition & problem solving.

While working with cloth & paper you will learn...

- A variety of new surface design techniques.
- Even more cold connection ideas to use w/ cloth & paper.
- How to add texture & depth to your work.
- Composition & design concepts.
- How to create a cohesive, themed project.

You will leave with 3 unique beautiful art decks that will be bound by decorative wire in the upper left corner. These can easily be transformed into a book or sculpture if you wish. If you have already taken the vintage metal deck class, you will be happily surprised by the new size of this deck as well as the new techniques & information presented in this in depth workshop. |
