Beading on silver and journaling in Mexico

Which of those words isn’t magical? I decided to pack everything I love best into this week at Hacienda Mosaico. We will tackle mosaicking, book binding, observation exercises, watercolor, rightbrain drawing, shading, etc., etc., etc. We will practice our new journaling skills as we explore our surroundings. By week’s end you will have a new art piece to hang on your wall and a new passion for watching your daily life’s adventures and artfully sharing them in your new beaded journal.

Just bring your pretty face.

Project #1: Bleading Hand

We will start out easy with this hand substrate. I designed this substrate and had it manufactured out of nickel silver in a delightful town in the middle of Mexico. The heart shape bezel creates the outline for our bead mosaicking.

I will provide a plethora of beads for your choosing. For each of our projects I suggest the artist bring a special token for the center piece.

You might even find something in our new surroundings that inspires you. I am very proud of this setting technique and I think you will find it to be your new favorite art form.

Project #2

Now that beading has been mastered it is time to take on the exciting part of the week. On day two we will construct our new journals using the double coptic stitch and watercolor paper.

The covers will be a gothic shape so you will learn how to customize your pages to fit. Once finish we begin lessons in drawing and watercolor that will fill the rest of the week and be a stark reminder of our time together. Puerta Vallarta is the most magical place to discover sweet things to draw and paint.

I promise you will leave with skills of drawing you didnít think were there. This is my favorite thing to teach and I look forward to sharing it with you.
